We offer a whole range of different types of gait analysis, ranging from a standard 2-D analysis, which is part of your biomechanical assessment, to a pressure analysis or gold standard 3-D gait analysis using state-of-the-art 3-D motion cameras and sensors.
Sometimes no further gait analysis is required, but if necessary then we will use the pressure analysis and 3-D gait analysis to help treat the problem.
Gait analysis is looking at the way you walk and run – most of the time our pains are when we’re moving. If required, a running analysis will be performed as our gait cycle during running is different from walking. Discrepancies can be exacerbated by running especially muscle imbalances which become more prominent when getting tired.
A pressure analysis is carried out to look at the pressure distribution through the foot during the gait cycle; highlighting any abnormalities. This can be particularly useful in assessing balance (proprioception).
If required we can perform a video gait analysis using the latest Dartfish software to analyse your gait in slow motion and even analyse your function during sport.
After the assessment a diagnosis will be given, along with a treatment plan out-lining all the possible treatment options for your problem. We can refer for imaging such as X-ray, Ultrasound and MRI. Where appropriate, we can refer onto the other health care professional such as Physiotherapists, Orthopaedic Surgeons etc.
A copy of the assessment and treatment plan will be sent to your referrer and GP.
